Mother’s Day portraits are here! Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, and there is no better way to celebrate Mama than getting photos of her with her babies. Moms are typically behind the camera, wrangling the kiddos and planning the photoshoot for families. Come to the studio for a relaxing and fun photography session and leave the planning to me.

These sessions are all about the mom’s connection with her babies. (no matter the age!) We will have kisses, snuggles, and all things sweet. Instead of heavily posed photos, I will prompt and gently guide you to have fun and connect with your children. Feel free to incorporate your child’s favorite book or stuffed animal into this session.

Dads…this is the perfect Mother’s Day gift. Moms…go ahead and treat yourself, you deserve it! Please note that this session is Mom & Kiddos only this time. (if you are looking to include the whole family, please book two back-to-back sessions or book a traditional session here)

The $250 session fee includes a 20-minute appointment and a private gallery with print copyrights to print and share as you wish. We will also have print packages available to add on.

Are you planning first birthday portraits for your baby? A First Birthday Portrait session is a wonderful way to capture precious memories of your child’s birthday milestone. Whether you choose a cake smash session or traditional portraits here in our Cuyahoga Falls studio, be ready for a fun and busy session! Our sessions are custom-designed to fit your vision, Ashley is always happy to make recommendations to make your session extra special!

Choose a theme for your First Birthday Portraits:

Choosing a theme for the photoshoot can vary from family to family. Many families stick with their first birthday party theme as their main set. Others like to keep it more traditional with timeless neutral sets. Need help choosing a theme or color scheme? Ashley is always happy to schedule a planning call to help bring your vision to life!

Our first birthday portraits are typically scheduled in the studio to allow Ashley to customize and build your sets. Are you dreaming of a session on location? No problem, we can chat about the details!

What to expect during the session:

Warm-Up:

When you arrive, we will allow some time for your child to get comfortable with the surroundings and the photographer. Before the session, we can determine if your child prefers a quiet and calm atmosphere, playful and silly with music playing in the camera room or something in between. It is completely normal for babies this age to need a little time to adjust to a new location.

Timing:

First Birthday portraits are often scheduled when the baby is 11 months old, so that finished portraits can be ready and printed for birthday parties, announcements, or thank you cards. Our milestone sessions are typically about an hour, although we are used to being flexible! We schedule time at that studio based on your baby’s happiest time of the day. It is best to choose a time when your child is usually happy and well-rested, preferably in the morning or after a nap.

Engagement:

First birthday sessions are busy and so much fun! Plan to engage with your child throughout the session to elicit genuine smiles and expressions. Sing songs, play games, or use their favorite toys to help keep them entertained. Ashley has a whole stash of toys and props to help encourage engagement as well! Parents are involved in this milestone session by helping the baby sit on the props, dig into the cake, or try out the different sets. Having parents involved shows the baby that they are in a safe and trusted environment.

Family Inclusion:

First birthday portraits are typically about an hour. This timeframe gives us plenty of time for family portraits, sibling breakdowns, and a variety of your baby on their own. Many babies wear 2-3 outfits for their birthday portraits. I encourage sessions to include family members in a few of the portraits to document the special bond and shared joy.

Flexibility:

Be flexible and patient if your child needs breaks or becomes fussy during the session. Allow time for rest and refreshments as needed.

Follow these tips to help you prepare for a fun and memorable first birthday portrait session! Please reach out to book your session today!

See you soon!

Cuyahoga Falls Newborn Photographer

Booking your newborn photography session

If you’re looking for a newborn photographer in Cuyahoga Falls and surrounding areas, here are some steps you can take to find the right one for your needs:

1. Online Search:

Start by conducting an online search for newborn photographers in Cuyahoga Falls. Use search engines like Google and Bing, and consider looking at Instagram and Facebook. Most photographers will share a variety of their work online via blogs and posts so that you can get a feel of their personality and style. When working with a photographer, it is important that you feel comfortable with their demeanor, particularly when it comes to interacting with your newborn baby.

2. Portfolio Review:

Once you’ve found some potential photographers, take the time to review their portfolios. There are many styles when it comes to newborn photography, so take the time to check out what fits your vision. Pay attention to the quality of their work, their use of lighting, composition, and poses. Most photographers are happy to share additional samples of work on request.

3. Read Reviews and Testimonials:

Check online reviews and testimonials from past clients to get an idea of their experiences working with the photographer. Positive reviews can indicate professionalism, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

4. Contact Photographers:

Reach out to the photographers you’re interested in and inquire about their availability, pricing, and packages. Be sure to ask any questions that you may have about the photo session, such as the duration, prop, and theme options, and what is included in their packages. We create custom-designed posed newborn sessions here at our Cuyahoga Falls studio and offer lifestyle sessions in your home as scheduling allows.

5. Discuss Vision and Expectations:

If you have questions about newborn photography, do not hesitate to schedule a phone or in-person consultation with the photographer to discuss your vision and to ensure that your expectations align. This is also an opportunity to discuss themes you’d like to incorporate into the shoot. Would you like to hear more about the newborn experience here at Blush? Please fill out our contact form and we are happy to go over our sessions in detail.

6. Consider Safety Measures:

Safety should be a top priority when photographing newborns. Make sure the photographer you choose has experience working with newborns and follows safety protocols to ensure the baby’s well-being during the session.

Our newborn sessions are slow and quiet here at the studio to keep the baby at ease and soothed. A typical session is 2.5-3 hours. We like to create a relaxing atmosphere for you and follow a baby-led approach to focus on keeping the baby comfortable throughout the session. I always work with an assistant in the studio to keep the newborn’s safety top of mind while posing. Composites are often made up of multiple photographs of one pose so that Jenn can provide additional support to the babies while achieving a safe and adorable image.

7. Finalize Details and Book:

Be sure to book your session in advance to secure your spot on the photographer’s schedule. Most Blush families reach out during their 2nd trimester to secure their spot, although we typically can accommodate last-minute requests. We recommend photographing your newborn in the first two weeks after their birth to capture them at while they are sleepy and naturally fall into the snuggly, curled-up poses that mimic their positioning in the womb, but understand the unpredictability of birth and can capture beautiful images of babies of all ages.

By following these steps, you can find a skilled and experienced newborn photographer who can capture beautiful and timeless images of your precious little one. We hope to meet you soon!
Thank you,
Ashley

Fall is officially here! When it comes to capturing beautiful family moments, fall portraits are so special. The colors of Northeast Ohio are so gorgeous this time of year, so it is the opportunity to bring your whole family together! Whether you are looking for one of our fall mini session dates or an extended family portrait session, we have you covered.

Understanding the Fall Aesthetic

Capturing the essence of the season

Fall is a season of vibrant colors and cozy vibes; your family’s outfits should reflect that. Embrace the warm tones and earthy colors that embody autumn’s charm. Think rusty oranges, deep burgundies, mustard yellows, and rich browns.

Incorporating autumn-inspired patterns and textures

To elevate your family’s fall looks for fall family portraits, consider incorporating patterns and textures inspired by the season. Choose comfortable materials that keep your family cozy during the photoshoot, such as soft knits, flannels, or brushed cotton. To add depth and visual interest to your outfits, experiment with textures. For instance, pair a cable-knit sweater with corduroy pants, or a silk scarf with a tweed blazer for a touch of sophistication. Prefer something more casual? Think flannel shirts, chunky cable-knit sweaters, and leather boots. These cozy textures add dimension to your outfits and create visual interest, making them picture-perfect.

Fall Family Portraits

Planning the Wardrobe for Fall Family Portraits

Setting a color palette

To achieve a cohesive and visually appealing look, consider setting a color palette for your family’s outfits. Instead of matching everyone identically, opt for coordinating colors that work together. This allows each family member to express their individuality while maintaining an overall sense of unity in the photos. Be sure to mix solids with patterns to ensure that the photographs don’t look too busy and the focus can remain on your family.

Dressing for Different Ages and Personalities

Dressing infants and toddlers

When it comes to dressing the youngest members of your family, comfort and flexibility are key. Opt for soft, breathable fabrics that allow them to move freely. Add adorable accessories and props like a cute hat or a plush toy to make the photos even more endearing.

Styling young children and preteens

Finding the right balance between age-appropriate outfits and personal style is crucial for young children and preteens. Let them have a say in their outfits while offering gentle guidance. Incorporate their favorite colors or patterns in subtle ways, like a statement hair bow or a graphic t-shirt under a stylish jacket.

Dressing teenagers and older family members

When dressing teenagers and older family members, aim for a cohesive look across generations while still allowing individuals to express their unique style. Consider using a common color or pattern that ties the outfits together. Emphasize individuality by incorporating different accessories or small details that reflect each person’s personality, without clashing with the overall aesthetic.

Considering Body Types and Complexions

Selecting the right clothing styles for Fall Family Portraits

Flattering cuts and styles are a crucial aspect of dressing your family for fall family portraits. Consider the body shapes of each family member and choose outfits that enhance their features so everyone feels great and confident for their portrait session. For example, empire waistlines for pear-shaped bodies or belted dresses for hourglass figures. Accessorize strategically to enhance their best features and create a polished look. Layering is a great option during the fall season, allowing you to add or remove pieces for a versatile look that suits changing weather conditions.

Complementing different complexions

Take into consideration the varied complexions within your family. Determine whether warm or cool undertones prevail and choose colors accordingly. Warm-toned individuals often look stunning in earthy shades like burnt orange or mustard yellow, while cool undertones tend to complement jewel tones like emerald green or rich plum.

Accessorizing for Added Style

Coordinating accessories

Accessories can elevate your family’s fall outfits from good to great. Choose matching jewelry or accessories that complement the chosen color palette. For instance, consider adding a statement pendant necklace that incorporates the same hues present in the outfits. If you’re looking to add a touch of color, accessorize with scarves, belts, or even socks in complementary shades.

We are so excited to see you soon. If you have specific questions or would like to brainstorm outfits or looks together, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Spring is on the way and our spots are starting to fill up for family sessions! You’ve booked your family portrait session and now have to figure out how to dress your sweet family. I’ve compiled a session guide with tips on what to wear for your family portraits. Please read on for a few of my favorite tips and tricks for family portrait sessions. With a bit of planning, your session will be fun and relaxing.

Summer Family Portrait Session

Where to begin?

The days of “everyone in khakis and a white shirt” are gone. Instead of all matching outfits, choose a palette of coordinating colors that are represented across all of the family’s outfits. I like to start the process by choosing an outfit that Mom feels great in, and then build the style of the rest of the family around that. Choose comfortable outfits that will allow freedom to move and play with your family. Many poses during a session involve holding or carrying your children, so it is important to choose clothing that allows you to do so without wrinkling easily or slipping off of your shoulders, etc.

Your photos should look timeless, so start with one or two neutral shades (think white, cream, gray, or beige), and then add some pops of color. While it is great to embrace colors and small prints as accents, be sure to stay away from large and mixed patterns when possible.

When thinking about what to wear for your family portraits, be sure to consider:

The session location – You don’t want to blend into the background, so consider looking at colors that will stand out against greenery.

The season – Deeper hues for fall/winter, lighter colors for spring/summer. Check out our full family guide for detailed instructions and examples.

Your home decor – Your wall art should fit the room where it is displayed. Think about the finished products that you are envisioning and how you’d like the portraits to be displayed. If your home is filled with all muted tones, perhaps a session with bright and bold colors is not the best choice.

It’s all in the details

Now that you have chosen your clothing for your family portraits, it is time to consider all of the little details.

Layers + Textures

Layers like jackets, cardigans, and vests provide depth. Textures such as knits, lace, and denim add interest. When used together, it’s a winning combination!

Accessories

Complete your look by adding headbands, jewelry, or a colorful scarf for some of your portraits. It’s a great way to show off your personality, without taking over the focus of the photoshoot.

Hands and nails

Your hands will be holding, hugging, and snuggling your children in many of your photos, so make sure everyone has clean and trimmed nails with no chipped nail polish.

Cuyahoga Falls Cake Smash Photographer

Cake Smash photography sessions are one of my very favorite sessions here at Blush!

This portrait session is a popular way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday. Whether your baby is walking or still crawling, we will be able to get a great variety of portraits by utilizing special props and child-sized seating. This session is a fun (and messy!) way to capture your baby’s adorable personality. Most families choose to book their portraits when their babies are eleven months old so that they can display the portraits at their birthday parties.

This session is usually quite active and silly, with your baby’s favorite songs playing in the background or their favorite toys in hand. I like to create a stress-free and fun atmosphere while giving the baby time to warm up to me and explore the studio.

Every session here in the studio is custom designed to meet your vision. First birthday sessions include up to three outfits, beginning with traditional set-ups and ending with the cake smash portion. The family is welcome to join in with the birthday girl or boy for a pose to celebrate this special milestone. While we do not provide the cakes for our cake smash sessions at this time, I am always happy to share a list of my favorite bakers in the area or tips for those families that would like to bake their own. The cake portion of the session often matches the birthday party theme, but the possibilities are endless!

Reach out today to plan your special cake smash session!
